1. Learn about the numerous perils of smoking.  A great majority smokers fail to quit because they don’t know the ill consequences of smoking.  The worse thing is, countless smokers are also familiar with the hazards of smoking, but they cling to the false belief that they’re not true - that is, until such time when they develop the particular ailment or disease.

2. Always remember that you’re not invincible.  You’re just human.  You’re no alien from a dead world.  Your body is susceptible to wear and tear, and smoking enlarges that base tenfold.  You’re not excluded from the perils of smoking.  You’re just like everybody: you’re only human.

3. Remember that you are stronger than how you you perceive yourself to be.  With a little concentration, you won’t have to give in to the slightest desire to smoke.  If another person asks you to jump in front of a rampaging herd of elephants, will you?  You’re not that stupid, right?  Hence, you’re a fool to remove seven minutes of your life with every stick you smoke.

4. Don’t think of a stick of cigarette as a reward.  It never is.

5. Remember that smoking doesn’t make you hip.  In this day and age when people would rather be healthy and live longer years, smokers are viewed with scorn.

6. know that though smoking may help you calm down, it will come at a steep price.  The perils of smoking are too dire to neglect.  Would you rather be given a few stress-free minutes at the price of a lot of years deducted from your life?

7. There’s no rule that says you should smoke after taking a meal.  Smoking won’t remove the taste of food within your mouth.  Want to remove the same?  Toothbrush and toothpaste will do the trick.

8. Realize that when you smoke in a communal place, you’re committing murder.  Second-hand smoke is just as dangerous as the puffs you take.  When you smoke in a crowded place, you are comparable to a messenger of death and decay.

9. Learn that smoking doesn’t help you lose weight.  Cigarettes burn your lung, not your fats.

10. Tell yourself that smoking won’t help you keep your focus at work.  It’s just a matter of mentality.  Everything depends on you and not what you take in.
