Filter Your Water Using Scrap Wood and PVC
In spite of minimum standards for city water, many have opted to filter their drinking water anyway. After all, just because water tastes all right and does not have an odor doesn’t mean it is pure. Of course, the safest way to know if you water is safe is to take a sample to a testing center. But even if it passes this test, you still may want to filter it, just to be sure.
You could spend a lot of money on a large filter system and end up being disappointed. This article contains an idea for making your own carbon water filter with a few dollars worth of supplies. If you are unsure if a carbon filter will make your water sufficiently better, here is a way to find out without large, out of pocket expense.

A stand can be made with two 4 inch squares of wood, a wooden base and attached upright. Drill a hole in each 4 inch square large enough for the PVC. Then screw the wood blocks to the upright piece and insert your filter. A setscrew can be used in one of the square supports so the PVC does not slide down.
Your unit is ready to use. Remember, the more carbon you have in your PVC pipe, the more filtering takes place. Thus, the longer it is, the better. Also, be sure to replace the carbon periodically and to clean out the inside of the PVC while it is empty. The frequency will depend on how much water you filter through the unit.
Obviously, this unit is small and only sufficient for drinking water. But if you keep the filter full and store the filtered water, you will have enough to keep your thirst quenched.

Anything you can do to elevate your RMR will have the greatest net effect on your fat loss efforts. Weight training has the biggest “bang” for the buck from an exercise stand point.
Cardiovascular exercise will also help elevate a slow metabolism. Your body will continue to burn additional calories, sometimes hours after you have finished your workout. The more intense (effort) your workout is, the longer your metabolism will continue burning calories at an accelerated rate.
Bust out with the right intensity when hitting your aerobic (cardio) and anaerobic (weight training) and notice what happens. You should begin to notice positive changes to your metabolic rate within a few weeks of applying proper nutrition and a resistance based exercise program. Incorporate some cardiovascular intervals, like fitness boot camp training, to the mix when you are ready and the skies the limit.
Make sure to eat a basic nutrient dense diet with sufficient amounts of protein through out the day. Increasing meal frequency will ignite a slow metabolism.
